Application Process

  • We are excited to be able to accept applications for our Graduate Leadership Development Programmes.

We’re welcoming new applications for our Generalist, Finance and Engineering programmes.

Make sure you tell us on your application if you require any adjustments due to a disability, to give us enough time to discuss your requirements with you.

To avoid disappointment, please submit your application as soon as possible, since the application window may close early if we receive a higher-than-expected number of applications.

When you start your application, you can save your progress, but remember that your application will not be complete until you have submitted it.

  • We’ll invite you to take an online assessment in early October or after the application window has closed, depending on when you have applied.

The online assessment will contain up to 3 assessments depending on your programme. It will always include a behavioural assessment.  If you’ve applied to the Generalist programme, you’ll also be asked to complete a combined verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning assessment. For Finance you will complete a verbal and numerical assessment, and for Engineering a spatial and mechanical assessment. The assessments will contain both timed and untimed questions.

You will have one week to complete the assessment and you will receive a feedback report on your performance after you’ve received your results.

Please be patient on receiving your results. If you have been invited to complete the online assessment in early October, you may not receive your results until a couple of weeks after the application window has closed.

  • The closing date for all applications is 4th November 2021.

However, depending on how many applications we receive, we may decide to close the application window sooner. We recommend that you complete your application as soon as you can.

  • If you have been successful in the online assessment, you will be invited to take part in an online interview.

You will be given the choice to take part in a video interview or an audio-only interview. Both interviews contain identical questions, so you can choose whichever one you are more comfortable with.

You can complete the online interview at whatever time is convenient to you. It will be made up of several timed questions to which you will record your video or audio responses.

You’ll have 2 weeks to complete the online interview. We’ll provide you with feedback on your performance after you have received your results.

You can choose to attend one of our Virtual Insight Sessions before attempting the online interview.

  • To share more about our programmes, we will be running virtual sessions over Zoom where you will be able to connect and talk directly to Heathrow Graduates who have successfully completed a programme.

You will be able to ask questions and get a glimpse of what it is like to work at Heathrow as a graduate.

There will be two sessions to choose from, both in late November. Expect your invite about a week before the sessions are due to commence, alongside your invite to complete the online assessment.

Please note that these dates are subject to change.

  • If you are successful at the online interview, we’ll invite you to book yourself onto an Assessment Centre that will take place over the first few weeks of January.

To avoid disappointment, we highly recommend that you secure your assessment centre slot as soon as you get the opportunity to do so.

Expect your invite in early December. Note that dates are subject to change.

  • You’ve met us virtually, now is the time to meet us in person (if you can make it).  Whilst these sessions aren’t a compulsory part of the process, and won’t inform the selection decisions we take, it’s a great opportunity for us to find out more about you and for you to learn more about Heathrow.

We’ll be running a meet and greet event at the Airport where you will have a chance to meet and talk to some of our senior leaders and previous Heathrow graduates in person.

We’ll have some presentations to share and then it’s an opportunity to network over refreshments.

This event will take place in mid-December. You’ll get your chance to RSVP to the event alongside your assessment centre invite.

  • We’ll want you to be at your best at the assessment centre, so we’ll arrange a brief call with you to make sure you’re fully ready and prepared, and to answer any final burning questions you may have.

Expect an invite to your prep call in mid-December. The call will take place just before or after Christmas.

Note that dates are subject to change.

  • You’ve already secured your place; you’ve had the chance to meet us both virtually and in person and you are as prepared as you can be after your prep call.

Assessment centres will run in early January.

At the assessment centre you’ll meet with leaders from Heathrow, including many former graduates, to complete a range of activities. You’ll have the chance to demonstrate your potential through a case study, presentation, group exercise and interview.

The assessment centres will be held at the Compass Centre near Heathrow Airport.

Make sure you bring proof of your Right to Work in the United Kingdom with you on the day.

Following your assessment centre, you can expect to receive your results by late January.

Note that dates are subject to change.

  • Congratulations, you’ve passed the Assessment Centre and we can’t wait to have you join us at Heathrow.

You’ll be starting with us in September 2022, but before you do, there are few more steps we need to go through as we need to ensure that all Heathrow colleagues are fully referenced and vetted.  We’ll keep close to you during this time and offer all the support and help you might need to make this a smooth process

Before you join, you’ll also have the chance to get to know the Emerging Talent Team and the other members of your cohort. We’ll be organising a couple of events between January and September, to make sure that you’re connected with the rest of the group and set up to succeed from day one.

If you have any questions you can call us on 0203 326 1133 (our office hours are Monday – Friday, 9.30 am – 5.30 pm) or email us at heathrowgraduates@peoplescout.co.uk
